In 1995 I was new to sound healing. I had attended a spiritual boot camp on and off for five years and was searching for more. I have always been a spiritual seeker, ever since I could remember. I had always used my voice to help soothe people and animals and had no idea about the healing aspects of sound.
Sometimes things are staring at us, yet we don’t see it. When I finally put it together I had more than an Ah-Ha moment. My life was forever changed and I discovered a brand new path and was led into a new direction. My internal tuning fork found a new north through sound and vibrational healing.
A friend had told me about the master sound healer, Tom Kenyon and I decided to got to a training he was offering in Sedona. From the moment I heard his first tones and otherworldly sounds I knew I had used sound before and knew this was my path. The whole world opened up to me with vivid colors and experiences that I wasn’t able to articulate at that time. I was astonished at the power of sound and the changes everyone was experiencing.
We learned and practiced intuitive sound healing both in a group and with partners. I met the most beautiful people and connections during the training. We all felt it and our connections were beyond words and beyond time and space. Our throats made unusual combinations of sounds and opened like a chanel of light.
Tom Kenyon made it fun. He has an amazing sense of humor and it helped to break up our fear about going into unknown places in our consciousness and awareness. His vocalizing is powerful and breaks up patterns of beliefs and limitations. I will never forget his amazing vocal range and the feelings the sounds and tones evoked.
One of the most potent things we practiced during the training was with a partner. We faced each other and then one seated partner closed their eyes while the other one got up and went behind the other and whispered in their ear, “You are loved”. We repeated it for a long time going from one side to another, one ear to another until tears were streaming down our faces. We rewired our old belief patters of unworthiness and shame and saw the light in each person.
Tom Kenyon had been a psychologist for many years and using this practice in our sound training was a brilliant way to connect us to each other and our own humanity. It was a humbling and deep experience. The repetition of sound patterns and beliefs were sliced apart. This is an example of how the power of sound helps heal old patterns that we all carry through our ancestral lines. How many times have we felt unworthy or someone told us we were? We have believed that lie for too long.
During any kind of sound healing or meditation I remember that we are always going through a process. Sometimes we are in a crisis, sometimes pain and most times we are suffering. We might not know it, but we are. We know we are more than our physical form and we have an inkling through the veil that we have lived before and made mistakes before. If we are smart and want to proceed we will begin to take more responsibility for our actions and become clean. This is our journey back to our true self. It takes a lot of effort. Don’t let anyone tell you there is an easy way. One step creates the next and we have to do this consciously and with purpose.
I am grateful for the early training and all of the gifts and people that I have encountered along the way. I am here to help using sound as my vehicle of transformation and love and peace.
